The Office of the Chief Collector of Customs Appraisement (South), Karachi, under the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), invites applications from qualified advocates for contract appointments as Legal Advisors in the Directorate of Law & Prosecution (Customs), Karachi. This recruitment aims to strengthen legal operations, assist Customs Collectorates in Karachi, ensure effective compliance, and improve litigation outcomes before appellate forums.

Position: Legal Advisor

Academic Qualification: LLB from a recognized university.

Professional Experience: At least 5 years of High Court post-qualification experience, preferably in customs law.

Licensing: Enrolled Advocate eligible to appear before the High Courts.

Pay & Remuneration: Monthly remuneration in the range of PKR 300,000/-, based on qualifications and experience (final remuneration determined by FBR in consultation with the Selection Committee).

Scope of Work:
-
Assisting Directorate of Law & Prosecution Customs Karachi and Customs Collectorates in preparation of legal submissions and representation in appellate forums.

Conducting legal research on complex Customs matters and reviewing notices, replies, and orders.
-
Supporting Customs officials in litigation and legal risk management.
-
Preparing periodic reports on legal proceedings, outcomes, and developing case summaries.

Pleading cases before High Courts, CAT, and FTO (including representation to the President of Pakistan in FTO cases when assigned).

Drafting dispute settlement proposals and assisting in negotiations for ADR cases.
Terms & Conditions

Duration of Contract: Initial engagement is for a one-year period, extendable by Directorates Law & Prosecution Customs Karachi based on performance and requirement.

Monitoring & Reporting: Legal Advisors will report directly to the Directorate of Law & Prosecution Customs Karachi and submit monthly progress reports outlining activities undertaken and outcomes achieved.

Code of Conduct: Legal Advisors must maintain strict confidentiality of all official information, disclose any potential conflicts of interest, and comply with professional ethics and FBR's internal security protocols.

Shortlisting & Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be intimated about the date of the interview. Interview call letters will be issued by the selection committee.

Original Documents: Original documents must be presented at the time of the interview.

TA/DA: No TA/DA shall be admissible for the interview.
