• Resident Shariah Board Member (RSBM)

  • Location: Head Office, Islamabad

  • Required Qualifications:

    • Shahadat ul Aalamiyyah Degree (Dars e Nizami) or equivalent from a recognized institution/Board of Madaris, combined with a Bachelor's Degree (from a non-Madaris institution); OR

    • Post Graduate Degree in Kuliyyatush Shariah, Kuliyyah Usooluddin, or L.L.M. (Shariah) / equivalent from a recognized university; OR

    • Serving as a Shariah Scholar member of Shariah Boards/Committees in internationally reputed organizations in other jurisdictions.

  • Required Experience:

    • Minimum 4 years of experience issuing Shariah rulings (including Takhassus fil Ifta period) OR at least 5 years of post-qualification experience in teaching, research, and development within Islamic Banking and Finance.

    • Preference given to candidates holding certification in Takhassus fil Fiqh/Takhassus fil Ifta, or those with 3 years of experience as a Shariah Advisor, Shariah Board Member, Deputy Advisor, or Team Member at an Islamic Financial Institution (IFI).

    • Sound understanding of Islamic finance, Fiqh ul Muama'alat, Usul al-Fiqh, and juristic derivation methodologies.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Clarify and explain Shariah rulings, fatawa, and board decisions to management and staff regarding products, documentation, and operational processes.

    • Guide the Shariah Compliance Department (SCD) in conducting compliance reviews of core business areas.

    • Review responses to client queries regarding Islamic products and assist in designing training initiatives.

    • Submit quarterly reports to the Shariah Board detailing operational clarifications provided.

Terms & Conditions

• Age Limit: Maximum 62 years as of the closing date.

• Contract Duration: Initial appointment is contract-based for a 3-year term, which is extendable.

• Remuneration: Competitive, market-based salary package offered.

• Ineligibility: Individuals convicted by any court of law are not eligible to apply.
